PubMan™: XML Content Management for Scholarly Works
Effectively managing a wealth of digital information requires a centralized data
store, or Content Management System (CMS
) that fulfills several needs:
- Centralized, secure and redundant storage of large document sets
- Controlled access to resources via user permissions controls
- Tracking and management of all document versions
- Tools for organizing content sets (such as publications, derivative
publications, etc.)
- Tracking and management of document links
- The ability to query some or all of the content effectively and in a precise
fashion
- The ability to cull reports on document sets
- The ability to publish in a variety of formats in automated fashion
- Assignment and tracking of workflow tasks
The cornerstone of our content management solutions is our own PubMan™ software,
a web-based Content Management System that stores, organizes, and provides
access to document collections and related resources. PubMan™ allows users and administrators
to manage, view, edit, search, extract, and generate reports on the content it houses.
PubMan™ also performs job management (workflow), messaging, advanced querying, and
customized reporting. Descriptions and details of all major features and functions
are found in the
PubMan™ User Guide
.
There are two versions of PubMan™ available: Enterprise and Streamline.
Enterprise is for clients with a larger scale storage and user needs, and
Streamline is well suited for projects smaller in scope or in number of users.
Both versions are provided as a Web Service. This means there is no software to
install (other than a browser), and no infrastructure or IT support is required.
dataformat.com takes care of all hosting infrastructure. Pricing and a product
matrix are available
here
(in pdf form).
